it's been a big year! I proceeded to publish over 150,000 words which is. so many. perhaps the most consistent writing I've done ever. and looking back, it's a lot of stuff I'm still very proud of!

not to over share on main but. h2j was very much a projection piece. April trying her hardest to keep everything The Way It Was, but the rest of the world was moving on without her. at the end of the day, she had to accept that not only had she changed, but the people closest to her had changed too and that was just the way it was going to be. April starts to come to terms with that, because I need happy endings, but at the time I still felt very disconnected from the person I had been. but genuinely, seeing people's comments and reactions and really drove home that this was just. life, y'know? we're all out here trying our best and nobody has it figured out.

a year later, I'm doing better. I'm not the person I used to be, because shit doesn't work like that, and I'm still mad and upset about it sometimes. but in the last year I have met so many fantastic new people who have only ever known the Me Now. and they still like me and want to be my friend, and they aren't expecting me to be the person I used to be.

i don't think it's a secret but how to get very good at juggling is absolutely my fave. the fact that i hadn't written fanfiction in like. 13 years and had to write down my April O'Neil character thesis So Bad. yeah. all fanfic is a passion project but that one was eating me up inside.

🕯️was there a fic that was really hard on you to write, or took you to a place you didn't think it would take you?

i hesitate to say how to get very good at juggling was hard to write, bc it was definitely a situation where i'd black out and write 4k words. but. i really wasn't expecting to get into the weeds with April dealing with Leo's death/surprise not-death. April's conversation with her dad in Chapter 4 where she tells him about how Leo got hurt was completely unplanned and i just kinda spit it out last minute. somebody you love being dead and then suddenly. not dead. is a very weird one on the trauma list.

in retrospect the fact that it caught me off guard is very funny. i was surprised when ppl commented about how much they liked it 💀

💞what's the most important part of a story for you? the plot, the characters, the worldbuilding, the technical stuff (grammar etc), the figurative language

CHARACTERS CHARACTERS CHARACTERS all i do is write character studies. i am envious of ppl who can really get down into the weeds with a plot/world building, but characterization is what is really important to me at the end of the day.

💝what is a fic that got a different response than you were expecting?

vigilantism for fun and profit!! h2j has more hits/kudos, but vfp had so much more engagement. i was not expecting it in the slightest but i will attribute it to Casey Jones fans just being built different. i mean also the fact that more than 4 ppl read h2j, that was definitely a weird one to get over.

💌share something with us about an up-and-coming work (WIP) that has you excited!

i keep waffling on this WIP (CJJ's POV is HARD that kid has a lot of shit in his brain) but this is part of a section that i very much enjoy :)

unrelated to teenage turtles who are ninjas and mutants i am also in the middle of writing the dnd party's disastrous post-campaign thanksgiving meal w my PC Katya's recently resurrected kinda evil wife (Em). Kat and Arcus, worsties of all time <3

h2j has about equal comments and bookmarks, about 4x that in kudos. seems like a normal ratio to me!
