Indian Nationals Receive Record-Breaking 320k H-1B Visas in 2023
In a remarkable development, the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) has set a new record by approving a staggering 441,000 H-1B visa applications in the past year. Among the approved applications, Indian nationals emerged as the frontrunners, securing an overwhelming majority of the allocations. Astonishingly, 72.6 percent of the visas, equivalent to 320,000, were granted to individuals from India. China ranked second with 12.5 percent of the visas, while Canada secured the third position with one percent of approved visas. The H-1B visa program enables US employers to hire foreign workers across various industries. However, the annual cap of 85,000 visas has sparked debates about the need to raise this limit, in order to create more legal pathways for immigration.
