Mellanoid Slimes often use gastroliths--that is, rocks--to aid in digestion. Eaurp Guz really needed to have explained this to Tendi before their 'authentic mellanoid meal' began.

Eaurp and D'vana visited their homeworlds together back to back on vacation once. On Orion, the other Tendis didn't want to have much to do with Eaurp. They spoke over her and were generally sneering and passive aggressive.

D'vana: "Eaurp would you excuse us for just one moment?"

Guz leaves the room but stays outside the door. She overhears bits of the conversation.

"well what do you expect from us, darling, you brought--and i can't stress this enough--a literal slime into this house. There's courtship outside of your species and class, and then there's this!"

"Um well she's actually very nice and I don't think--"

"What was wrong with that hunky earth-cyborg you were into?"

"What? No he and I are just--"

"you can't seriously think we're going to accept an outsider as part of the family right? Especially not that [not in UT database]."

quiet, for too long. Unintelligible whispering.

[slapstick fighting sounds. Guz flinches as she hears each hit.] B'ert going "AAA!! OUGH! HELP! GUARDS! PLEASE!" [more slapstick fighting sounds. sounds of guards getting beaten up. phaser shots. D'vana or possibly D'erika shouting. phaser exploding. More screaming.] D'vana: "Say it! Say it D'erika!"

The door opens. D'erika, with a black eye, blue blood running down her nose, and missing a tooth. She speaks through gritted teeth, grimacing as if forcing a smile. "I am so sorry for the way we've treated you, Eaurp. Please won't you come back and tell us about your recent impulse engine modifications?"

Guz's eyes lighten up and she infodumps to the Tendis about rocket science and manages to get onto a 15 minute tangent about trains while D'vana's bruised and battered family watch on with disinterest and a scratched up, bruised D'vana listens intently and asks questions and encourages her, and then after Guz's brief aside about how the bussard collector/propellant tank pipeline needed maintenance, D'vana ends up infodumping about her interstellar proton density mapping project and her and T'lyn's recent discovery of a hivemind energy being in a dilithium mine.

At the end of it D'erika takes D'vana aside and gives a genuine apology to her. "I changed my mind. She's perfect for you actually. And I forgot how dirty you can fight when you're good and mad. I had fun."
