More Medibang practice on the iPad, though I did the shading and final touch-ups on FireAlpaca via X-Pen 13.5. I just lost my patience with how sloppy my work was, but it's still a good practice on a digital medium I'm still getting familiar with (the iPad).
Also, heyooo, I'm finally home after 3 years living in a hotel. No internet here, however, so I'll have to use my personal hotspot sparingly. Here is to hoping I can draw regularly again.
Original Draw the Squad meme is here. Give the original artist some love.
My god, these three are dumbasses.
Tried doing the Color Wheel Meme as a coloring exercise. It ended up not just being a success, but it REALLY helped me grasp coloring in ways I couldn't before, like limiting a palette per character, keeping an eye on values and saturation, and other things of color theory that, while I know what they are, I have a difficult time implementing it.
Some colors are swapped around on some characters like Rashid's kaftan and cloak, while others like Giovanni, Frascona, and Guy are given adjusted hues not only appropriate of color theory, but even what colors would have been available during the early 18th century. Ruixiong may be unusual given that deep purple would have been impossible to obtain unless you're swimming in money, but hey, it's color practice, he probably stole the dyes and made Abena make his hanfu, or just outright stole from a rich person. Or have the Master give him the bajillion sea snails needed to make the dye WHO CARES?
No, Ulan isn't really that blue.
Saw a gif of Revolutionary Girl Utena, liked it, did a redraw. Looked up the context of the actual scene and episode only after I finished the artwork, which made everything retroactively funnier. I really should check out the anime/manga.
Supposed to take place in 1518, Avignon, France, but that makes the colored version make less sense, EH. I am never good at coloring, but at least now I have a color scheme of the siblings.
ANYWAY--Noelle Duchamp is sick and tired of her older brother Guy chasing off any potential love interests and friends. Though as much as Guy was in the right to do so at the time (with Noelle being a minor, and the person flirting was a Christian behaving suspiciously in the Jewish commune), he was still very much infantilizing his teen sister. And Guy's actions would have devastating consequences later that would tear the family apart.
If I ever fix/correct the colored version, I might do a background of the commune's marketplace instead of... wherever Utena takes place in, lmao.
Boy howdy, the Assassin's Creed movie was so shit.

This is what happens when @cappnrob and I do stupid shit in art form.
Just a sample of Devil's Eye crack.
[expvrgction] It is now Guy's turn to be harassed by a Hell lobster. "15 at once, mortal? Pathetic and cowardly. Do 30." And yet, not a single trace of the voice's owner.
(davoth says that it is n o t e n o u g h l u s t to guy. davoth, no. def a little crack ask there XD)
"Cut me a break! I only have-"
He counts. Two hands, two feet, two knees, two elbows, two under arms, two thighs, one butthole, one mouth, one- well, you get the idea. The only reason why it was 15 instead of 16 is because he's not as dexterous with his feet with certain acts as he'd like to be.
"Logistically speaking, 30 is impossible! How do I get that many men cramped up all on me all at once?! I'd have to assign where one goes and-
"...Wait a second....
"If I have one man assigned to one foot each instead and he uses his own hands, and they seat a certain way to get to one person behind my knee, then one fellow can lie down to do my thighs, and at a certain angle perhaps my calves...." Oh, no. Guy sits down and starts charting up how he can take on 30 partners all at once.
Finished testing palettes and how Guy's hair would look if he kept it powdered. It's the 1720s, people didn't bathe often then. If anything, the powder is doing his hair a favor. Gross. Of course, over time the powder falls/sweats/washes off, so the colors will be inconsistent. But at least now I can have a stronger grasp of Guy with unpowdered hair.
Guy Duchamp was born in 1499 to a marrano woman who fled persecution in Portugal to settle in Avignon, France, where he and his older twin brother Phoebus are raised to pose as Christians but otherwise observed Judaism in secret. Â Whereas Phoebus was the "good Jewish boy", Guy was an incorrigible hedonist who embraced his false identity just to avoid persecution from the Christians and live among them. He stole and robbed when he should be studying, hoping to become rich enough to be accepted among the French elite living in France. To avoid disappointing his dear old mother and their sweet younger sister, though, Guy keeps this thieving lifestyle secret, usually dragging Phoebus along with his shenanigans. But after Guy was nearly caught, Phoebus attempted to convince Guy to live an honest life. Since Phoebus was studying trade and sailing at the time, he would have Guy come with to join an expedition that would eventually seal their fates, leading to what would immortalize Guy as a thrall to the man they call 'Diablo'.
Special thanks to @punchyhalfnakedmen for giving me the tools to update Guy's color scheme. I'm slowly getting better and better at coloring, but I still got a long way to go.
