Just a little more of a sneak peek at the writing process. I recently bought a tablet and have been overjoyed to handwrite my notes for just
An announcement: all future Gutter House posts will be hosted at my Pillowfort page. They will be visible for everyone, so you don't need an account to see them. The links will be cross-posted here for your convenience.
As I'm working, I aim to give some behind-the-scene glimpses of how I work--like what my storyboarding (and terrible drawings) look like! Click the link above to come see what's cooking.

I was tagged by Sam “Hot Dog!AU” @cyberth0t and @herpixels! Thank you, both! I’m taking Sam’s lead and answering #1 on the list of challenge questions.
1. Your writing process - show us a part of your script or  explain how you write your scenes. Do you write in screenplay format or  novel format? Etc, etc.
I primarily use Evernote to organize and write my story. I like that I can sync between the desktop program and my mobile app because motivation hits me at random times.
On the left, you can see I keep a Gutterverse stack, with notebooks for various types of writing. I mostly work in the WIP notebook and migrate finished scenes into the Completed notebook.
On the right, I do a light amount of coding of my documents. I use Evernote’s tagging system to sort by character, pairing, and locale. I also use terms in my titles to differentiate between their length. S is for scene (1 post with multiple images and moderate text length); R for run (multiple posts for long scenes); and 1S for one-shot, which is a post with caps and little to no text. I bother with this because I like to create a mixed pace--small snippets in between longer ranges of text.
Sometimes I get really stuck on a scene, so I’ll move from Evernote to my personal journal. I find that the slower pace helps me process. Oftentimes, I’ll use that space to ask meta questions (”What’s important?”) about the scene to help understand motivations of the characters, or what needs to occur, etc. so that I give myself some more scaffolding to write.
Generally speaking, The Gutter House has been written primarily in script format because it’s more approachable for Tumblrites than full paragraphs. However, I do have a long-term goal of writing the story up in prose.
I will tag: @trumpets0ng, @therichantsim, @anotherplumbob, @budgie2budgie, and @simoviacourt. Please consider yourself tagged if you want to participate--I love reading about people’s creative processes.
FYI: I’ve created the tag #gutterverse soundtrack for story posts that contain music in case you need some tunes to jam to while living in a derelict factory.
So Marcus is in love / involved with Alan and that's canon?! RIP Beau's heart.
Yes! But no RIP for Beau quite yet! Both he and Alan are poly, and Marcus is entertaining the idea. So there’s still hope for Beau...if he and Marcus decide to move forward again.

I got some great comments for this last slew of posts which I didn’t want to go unreplied to! I’ve stuck them under a cut so as to keep your dashes tidy. It’s a little spoilery (vaguely!) there, so clickers beware!
trumpets0ng replied to your photoset “Alan: What was that all about? Marcus: I’d wager it’s because Neven…”
I LOVE this, but isn’t Beau going to take issue?
He and Alan are in an open relationship and have previously discussed their shared interest in Marcus. That being said, he will being Going Through It(tm).

Soundly fucked into the mattress           Â
Neven’s ridiculous poetics are my favorite.

Their relationship is intense and really touching! :) And your storytelling work is amazing too. :) Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Thank you! I’ve really enjoyed figuring out how they can relate to each other, so I’m glad it’s landing well!
therichantsim replied to your photoset “The next morning– Danny (to Neven): Whoa, what is that? N: The fuck...”
I know I shouldn't have but I honestly laughed especially when he stormed off.         Â
Listen, Neven’s been doing a lot of growing, but he remains the world’s biggest baby.

*whispers* "What are we whispering about?" Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
LOL. I actually don’t know what he whispered to Marcus, except that it was disarming.
xldkx replied to your photoset “Nadia: So, you’re moving to Del Sol Valley? How exciting.  Ruthie: ...”

That is actually Nadia showing some serious restraint, lmao.

so many ties tho! O_O
Ties bought for Neven by Marcus to cultivate good taste, but which are now exclusively used by Marcus himself. The tie rack is kept in Nev’s room as both punishment and because they were too lazy to reinstall it in Marcus’s room.
I keep wondering what happened to Marcus, how he got that lip scar? Is it significant? Will you touch on it in the story?
I assume he must’ve fallen off of something as a kid (since that’s what kids tend to do). I didn’t choose it for any particular reason when I first made him, but I’m sure Marcus has found some tortured symbolism in it (since that’s what Marcus tends to do).
