BIG BUFF SWEET DEER BOI FOR D&D
Name: Guts (formerly Pig)
Age: estimated at 31, give or take a year or two
Position: War Boy, Counterweight and Black Thumb; former Lancer until he was around 20 or 21.
Height: 199cm (6′5″)
Relationships/Affiliations: Guts is one of two Counterweights to his Polecat, Molotov, the other Counterweight being a War Boy named Cargo. Their Driver is Temper, who definitely lives up to his name. Though Guts is close with everyone on his team, Temper tends to keep his distance. He, Cargo, and Molotov are all more or less in a relationship with one another, though they’re known for sleeping around. However, the three of them share a bunk, which can be close quarters, but they somehow make it work.
Physical Appearance: Guts has relatively dark skin, browned from years in the sun, though it’s usually covered in a thick layer of warpaint, which he can be pretty bad about reapplying when it starts to fade. He doesn’t wear much grease paint, but when he does, it’s in a mask that covers his his eyes, goes across the bridge of his nose, and extends about halfway down the sides of his face.
The large scar on his belly, just below his navel, is where the name ‘Guts’ comes from. His left eye is also missing, the socket scarred over, and a good portion of his left earlobe is missing as well; all of these wounds occurred during the same battle, though he lost his eye first.
He has scarification all over his back and shoulders of an exploded V8 engine. It’s remarkably detailed and three-dimensional. He has several other, smaller scarifications across his body, including a wrench along his right forearm, screws, gears, and oils along his left forearm, and the steering wheels of both driver’s he’s had on the round of either shoulder (but he’s not sentimental or anything).
There are two tumors growing on the inside of his right upper arm, both about medium sized, and several others (he’s counted four so far) on the inside of his right thigh, though only his sexual partners are aware of them because they’re so small.
Guts is broad chested with thick arms and wide shoulders; being a Counterweight, he does his best to keep his strength up. His face can come of as harsh to people who don’t know him, mostly because his lips tend to pull down into a frown and his brows look furrowed when his face is resting; though he’s a counterweight, the intensity comes in handy during raids, especially since his expression becomes even fiercer when he works. The scar and his remaining good eye, which is black, also help with intimidation as well when he needs to fight.
Clothes/Accessories: While he’s out on raids, Guts usually wears the typical black pants, which he keeps tucked in his boots more often than not, fingerless leather gloves that are thin enough to let his hands move easily but still protect them. He also wears heavy steel-toed boots that happen to be a matching pair, though he’s still not sure how he managed that, so he keeps them and his gloves close when he sleeps, not wanting some other War Boy to nab them.
On days when they know a raid is going to be tough, he wears a vest and an extra belt of grenades (usually homemade) for Molotov. His vest is what carries his weapons–usually makeshift knives, a pair of brass knuckles he made, a few homemade explosives, etc.–but if he needs to, he uses whatever he has in the pockets of his pants, usually various tools. He also keeps a knife he lifted off a Rock Rider when he was still a Lancer on his belt, as well as a pair of goggles for those freak sandstorms.
Background: Guts was born in the Citadel, though no one really knows who his parents are. It’s assumed that he was either abandoned as a baby or that his mother and father died. Regardless, he wouldn’t have survived if he hadn’t been found by one of the Minders making his rounds.
As a child, he seemed average, roughhousing and training with the other War Pups. He was loud, but would always cling to the attention of any War Boy who was willing to give it. As a kid, he was protective of his friends and incredibly protective of the younger Pups. Because of this, it was always assumed he would become a Minder himself, however, during training, he showed an amazing amount of skill with Lances,
When he was about sixteen, he became Mech’s Lancer. They worked very well together, and it wasn’t long before they were practically inseparable.
When Guts, formerly Pig, was around twenty or twenty-one, Mech was killed on a particularly nasty raid and he was injured trying to save his driver. He lost his eye and part of his ear in the fight to get control of the vehicle, and then his belly was slashed open, hence the name ‘Guts.’
After he healed, now blind in his left eye, he was transferred to Gas Town to start new training as a Counterweight.
When he first met his partners, Molotov and Cargo, Guts wasn’t too keen on them, still not over the death of Mech–even if War Boys shouldn’t be upset about those kinds of things. Not only that, but he wasn’t too keen on being part of such a young team with Molotov being barely seventeen and Cargo being eighteen. But after they finished their training and were assigned Temper as their driver, they quickly became close. Today, they’re practically inseparable.
Personality: Guts tends to be a bit on the serious side, which is why his face sometimes scares people he doesn’t know. His expression is particularly intense when he is working, either on an engine or out in the field. He loves his work.
Though he loved being a Lancer and being in the middle of a fight, he has grown to love being a Counterweight just as much; and anyone who says Counterweights don’t see any action is wrong. The action might be a little different, but Guts still loves a good fight, which makes him fierce in battle.
When he isn’t fighting, Guts spends most of his time working on engines or with his teammates. He loves the feeling of grease on his hands and under his fingernails, and Molotov has to pull him away from his projects to eat at least once a day.
Many who get to know him find that when he’s calm, he’s pretty gentle for a War Boy, but when he has adrenaline pumping through his veins, Guts can rave and thrash with the best of them. After exciting raids, it’s not uncommon to find him fighting in the pits to work of his extra energy. Both he and his teammates prefer the pits in the Citadel to those in Gas Town, so they make an effort to visit as often as they can, not only for fights, but to visit friends as well.
Guts is incredibly protective of Molotov and Cargo, more Molotov than Cargo though. There has been more than one incident of him beating someone who touched the Polecat in a way he didn’t like. He doesn’t mind when Molotov sleeps with other people, but he doesn’t particularly like it when those other people mark him up with bruises or scratches. His possessiveness even got to the point where Molotov had to have a conversation with Guts about it, which resulted in a fight the Polecat won by taking the Counterweight out on his blind side. Now, Guts is no longer quite as possessive as he used to be, though he’s found he doesn’t have to be, because Molotov comes back with fewer marks now when he sleeps with other people.
Other Information: Since the loss of his left eye, Guts’ depth perception isn’t what it used to be. It’s because of that that he had to quit being a Lancer, and now his fighting style is far more hand-to-hand. If you asked him to shoot a gun, it wouldn’t end well.
When he fights, he has learned to keep his enemy to his right and depends a lot on his hearing. Because of that, he has found that he is just as proficient a fighter as any of his teammates, though his night vision leaves a lot to be desired.
He’ll often bring Molotov and Cargo trinkets he finds lying around the Citadel when they visit or on scrap missions. They all keep the things they find on a shallow makeshift shelf in their bunk, though it’s getting a bit full. Guts even has a few things Much gave him when they were partners.
[[So. This is Guts. Feel free to use him, just please let me know if you do.]]
