             she’s  caught.  but  carter  doesn’t  look  bashful  or  ashamed.  instead,  she’s  sending  a  beaming  grin  at  mike  over  her  shoulder,  flourishing  the  stickerbook  she  has  in  her  hands.  perhaps  his  locker  is  now  covered  in  stickers.  she’d  been  around  hawkins  high,  tutoring  some  juniors,  and  decided  to  stop  by.  it  was  looking  a  little  bland  -  the  door  needed  a  pick  me  up.   ‘ c’mon,  mikey  -  you  gotta  admit,  it  looks  pretty  rad, ’   she  chose  the  most  boyish  stickers  she  had  ;  guitars,  lightning  bolts,  comic  book  exclamations.  she  even  spelt  mike  w with  her  bubble  letter  stickers.  when  carter  turns  around,  she’s  holding  the  book  to  her  chest.   ‘ i  figured  i’d  stop  by  and  say  hi  while  i  was  here,  but  then  i  got  bored, ’   a  shrug  ensues.   ‘ how’s  school? ’     @guilehero.

             ‘ oh,  nothing, ’   smile  remains  beyond  the  question,  because  in  spite  of  their  circumstances,  watching  mike  grow  slowly  into  a  young  man,  and  yet  still  keep  his  heart,  and  his  love  for  his  friends,  made  carter’s  own  heart  swell  a  bit.  his  courage  and  care  didn’t  go  unnoticed  by  her.   ‘ i’m  just  proud  of  you, ’   she  had  no  qualms  about  saying  it,  now  that  she  had  been  called  out  for  her  soft  grin.  and  perhaps  she  would  have  said  it  eventually,  anyway  -  neither  of  them  knew  if  they  would  make  it  out  of  this  alive.  and  besides,  she  thinks  mike  needed  to  hear  it.   ‘ that’s  all, ’     @guilehero.
