Still in the process of writing Halos & Hellfire over. This is taking longer than I expected and I’ve been in a very creative mood lately, so instead of not posting anything, I’m going to update what I have. 

Tears On The Runway is pretty much written out, needs some editing here and there, but it’s in a much more publishable state than H&H. I’ve been getting email alerts about Faves, Follows and even Reviews regarding that story, so I feel obliged to deliver to that awaiting audience. I’m pretty happy to start writing about Marci again!

Halos & Hellfire will, unfortunately, have to be put on hiatus status until its rewritten, but at least I still get to update a story.

Hey there! You missed me? Of course you do, it’s been a while since you’ve listened to my wonderful ramblings. Please accept my sincere apologies. It was pancake and Valentine’s Day. Can I get a whoop whoop? (whoop whoop) I may have shouted that out loud. Whoops. But seriously how can you not excited about fried sugar batter? Mmmhh. What’s your favourite toppings? I’m boring I literally eat the same flavour every year lemon and sugar. But you can never have too much of a good thing… or can you? Maybe I should switch it up…Nah! Ha! I bet you were getting ready to tell me flavour combinations I should try. Feel free to do so, I will try them. You never know you may be the one to get me hooked on a new flavour for the next ten years.

How did you spend your Valentine’s Day? Tell me, tell me I want to know. I want to know the bad, the good, and the awesome. I spent my day curled up in bed with my gorgeous feline companion, Brandi, a book (Atonement), and a cup of Options indulgence Belgian hot chocolate. I can’t think of a better way to spend the day. I don’t have a significant other, but even if I did I probably wouldn’t have spent it another way. I don’t understand why we dedicate a single day to express how much we love each other. (Do it all year round!) Surprise each other randomly. Take each other on surprise trips. Cook surprise romantic meals. Keep telling each other how much you mean to each other. Reminisce on the old times. Be spontaneous.  It’s the secret to keeping the romance alive, don't you know? Yeah, yeah I know you’ve heard this before, but that’s because its’ true! So if you haven't taken note before, take note now the future of your romance depends on it! Ok, maybe it doesn’t but you know where I was going with that right?

For me, Valentine’s day has lost its romance. It has become a commercial event. We expect gifts from each because that’s what society and the media tell us we should do. Adorn each other with gifts. Give women flowers, chocolates, and perfumes because that’s all women want every year. Let’s not forget who is expected to buy these gifts. Men! And after they spend hours picking out the perfect perfume or make-up set. What do they get? A simple thank you. There’s so much pressure on men to make Valentine’s day romantic. I’m sorry but last time I checked it takes two people to make a relationship work therefore both men and women should make an effort. Some of you may not agree with this, so please feel free to disagree.

I believe that people should always be telling and showing each other what their partner means to them. I don’t mean declare your undying love for them every day. I mean just show them how much they mean to you in anyway YOU desire. If you feel like buying them a gift put some thought into it. It’s the littlest thing that make us happy.

Valentine’s has become so commercial that we’ve forgotten how it came about and I think if more people knew/ remembered how it came about then we’d hold a different attitude towards it. So here’s my attempt to bring its real meaning back to the front of our minds. I know what you’re thinking, urgh a history lesson. But don’t worry, I’ll make it fun! Well as fun as a history can be, Fun fact time. Valentines is the second most popular car sending holiday after Christmas (around 1 billion cards are sent every year). Sorry, that wasn’t exactly exciting was it? I’ll try again. In the Victorian times it was considered bad luck to sign a Valentine’s card. That was a bit more interesting wasn’t it? I have another. Did you know that the expression ‘wear your heart on your sleeve’ originated in the Middle Ages. Young women and men used to pull names from a bowl, which would be their valentine, and pin it to their sleeve for a week.

Ok, enough of the facts for now it’s time to get down to business. Valentine’s is a Roman and Christian tradition. I bet you didn’t know that. Emperor Claudius thought men would become better soldiers if they didn’t have wives and children so he forbade marriage. It’s a fine plan, if you want your people to die out. No marriages mean, no children no children means no next generation, no next generation means that when you die, all that’s left is tumble weed. I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt and say he must have hit his head or something before he made that decision. Luckily for Claudius, Saint Valentine saw this fatal flaw in his plan and kept marrying couples. Ok, so maybe that’s not the real reason. He thought lovers shouldn’t be denied the right to marry so he conducted services in secret. Unfortunately, this story does not have a good ending. He got caught and killed. But hey at least he went down doing something he loved, I bet that’s something that we all wish we could say but probably will never have the chance to because most of us don’t have the courage to stick up for what we believe in sometimes. (I am including myself in that)

But hey! Let’s not end this post on such a somber note! I haven’t even told you what I love about Valentine’s day. I love the day after Valentine’s when the shops sell al the unwanted items half price. You know what I go for ever year? LOVE HEARTS! Hhmm, I think I actually have some left. I think it’s time I love and leave you and go scout out some love hearts.
