here you go sweetheart! it is much later than i promised and i’m sorry about that, there’s a lot going on right now.

content warning: struggling with food, mentions of binge eating and not feeling worthy of eating, passing mention of depression- i’m sure i missed something.

Meeting a basic human need should not be this hard, but yet here she was. Sitting criss cross on the tiled floor of the kitchen. Her head was cradled in her hand, the palms of her hands pushing into her eye sockets. (Y/N)’s chest felt like it was twisting and squeezing around her lungs, similar to how pythons do to small prey. Pulling herself out of a depressive episode was always the hardest, most tedious part. She had showered, brushed her teeth, even combed out the knots in her hair; yet she couldn’t bring herself to heat up last night's leftovers Spencer had so kindly tucked away for her.

Ridiculous is how she felt, Spencer had been sweet enough to keep this for them and yet she was sitting on the floor about to cry over it. Had he caught her he would think she was pathetic, besides all she wanted to do while in her tiny state was eat.

“Bug?”

Spencer’s voice rung through the apartment, he had just come home and this was how she was greeting him. (Y/N) hummed, her head popping up from her hands hearing his oxfords stop in front of her.

“I can’t do it.” Her voice shook a bit as Spencer kneeled in front of her, worry on his face. Spencer tilted his head thinking: “Can’t do it?” He mouthed back thinking about what in the world she was this distraught over.

Then he saw it.

Half wrapped in tinfoil, the plate of chicken and rice sat on the counter, like someone had started to heat it up before second guessing.

“I just..I’m hungry but I ate so much the last two weeks. I don’t deserve this.”

“Enough no, don’t say that.” Spencer says taking her hands in his helping her up. He sits her at the table, before planting a firm kiss on her head. His hand lingered on the back of her head before walking away from her. (Y/N) turned her head watching her lover walk the kitchen floor, before dropping her head to rest on her forearms. Hot tears slipping down her cheeks.

Moments later a loud beeping filled the tiled kitchen, the silverware drawer opened and closed in seconds. Instantly, Spencer sat directly next to her, two plates in front of him as he divided the leftovers into two. She would not go through this alone. Spencer slid the plate in front of her, she smiled and used her free hand to squeeze his thigh.

“On the count of 3. 1…2…3”

In sync the two both took bites of their food, (Y/N) smiled gratefully at her husband silently thanking him with a assuring squeeze on his thigh.
