12 held for attacking and burning guard posts in Bukit Raja
SHAH ALAM, April 20, 2015:
Police detained 12 suspects in connection with the attack and burning of three guard posts in a housing estate in Bandar Bukit Raja, Klang, on Saturday.
Selangor Criminal Investigations Department chief Datuk Mohd Adnan Abdullah said all the suspects, aged between 23 and 40, were detained around Klang and Kampar, Perak, in several operations which began on Saturday until 3am today.
âTwo of the suspects had previous criminal records involving violent crime,â he said in a press conference at the Selangor police headquarters here today.
In the 1.45am incident, a security guard was killed while six more were hurt after three guard posts in a housing estate were attacked by a group of suspects.
The murdered victim, Muhammad Ridzhuan Che Bi, 26, had been married for only two months while his six friends were slashed with sharp weapons.
Mohd Adnan said police believed the motive for the attack was a territorial war for security control and did not rule out the involvement of secret societies in the incident.
However, he said the focus of investigations now was on tracking down the parties responsible for the burning and attack on the guard posts.
Mohd Adnan said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

Thailand has reinforced security in Danok and Sadao following the bombing incidents in the two areas close to the Malaysian border of Bukit Kayu Hitam last month.
The mayor of Danok, Kecha Benjakarn, said the number of guard posts and CCTVs along every street in the two districts had been increased.
He said to prevent a repeat of the incidents, Thai authorities had also adopted stringent monitoring and inspection of the traffic flow into the country.
âBecause of the incidents, visitors used to fear  coming here. But they do not have to worry now as almost all the entry points have their guard posts and weâve mounted more than 50 CCTVs, with more to be installed soon,â he said at a media conference through an interpreter here on Saturday night.
Last Dec 22, five bombings occurred in Padang Besar, Danok and Sadao which claimed the lives of two people and injured 25 others.
Kecha said the number of tourists to Danok had dropped by 30 per cent.
âTo attract visitors, various activities have been organised by the local authorities such as the superbike meeting. Participation by the 500 superbike enthusiasts is a good sign that visitors feel safe about coming here.â
He said the superbikes came from 6 countries â China, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Indonesia and Malaysia.
