Frank Castle listening to Florence + the machine
Frank Castle is the type of man who doesn't really listen to music. Sure, he likes a few old rock and country songs—the kind you'd expect a man his age, with his past in the Marines, to have on every now and then—but that's about it.
What you don't expect is to come home one day and find him standing in the kitchen, quietly humming a melody. It takes you a second to recognize it. It's one of the songs you always play on long drives together, windows down and your hand resting on his thigh.
You smile to yourself but don't say a word. You know he'd probably get embarrassed if he realized you'd caught him.
When he's deployed again, he ends up bringing an old iPod with only a handful of songs loaded onto it. One of them is your favorite—"What Kind of Man" by Florence + the Machine. At first, it's just there because it reminds him of you. Then he catches himself replaying it. Again. And again.
Before long, he's humming it under his breath while cleaning his rifle, singing bits of it in the showers without even noticing.
His teammates definitely notice.
They tease him relentlessly for it.
“Castle? Florence + the Machine? Seriously?"
He just grunts, rolls his eyes, and mutters, "At least it's a damn good song."
A few months later, his iPod is almost entirely filled with Florence + the Machine.
He can't help it.
Every song reminds him of you. Of home. Of quiet mornings, long drives, your laughter echoing through the house.
And for the first time in a long time, home is something he lets himself miss.
At that point, he couldn't care less if his teammates stop seeing him as the big, scary Frank Castle.
Fuck them.
He's so hopelessly in love with you that even your favorite band has become his.
a/n: okay so this has been on my mind for months, like you can’t convince me that he don’t listen to Florence. I can’t explain it but it just make sense. Anyways, as always I hope you like this little headcanon or whatever is this. Please if you have any requests let me know them!
Also have in mind a few stony things in mind…idk if I should write them.
