You're right, I did enjoy this. Actually, this morning before I saw this ask, I was thinking about Danganronpa 3 -- which is being inflicted upon me by so-called "friends" -- and the broader question of how anime has started to become culturally ubiquitous. I found this article was a bit apocalyptic on the subject, with its final few paragraphs verging on jeremiad, but it did present some arguments for the mainstreamed homogenization of fundamentally alternative aesthetics I hadn't considered yet.
