#grubies

HELLO it’s been a while since I’ve done update on my beetles and I have some great news. The breeding with my green beetles was a success and now there is like around 15 grubies and maybe more! I have to check the substrate again. My roachies has also gotten 10 baby roachies so now I have 15 little roachies, they’re so small oh my gosh. I’ve also bought couple of grubs of different species of beetle to house in my terrarium once they’ve grown up. Hopefully they will be male and female.

Speaking of terrarium I finally added some real plants in it! Make it a bit more natural and I’ve gotten some springtails to add in later when there is enough of them to put in. 

I’m glad to inform that yet another one of the grubies have decided to pupate on these last days of the year! Found a cocoon just today.

That makes 4 grubies in cocoons now ((Baba included)), I feel the ones who had decided to pupate earlier will come out of their cocoons as a full grown beetles somewhere around the January. 

The leafy babies weren’t the only thing I bought from pet shop!  So this is Crany, one of the three Mecynorrhina Torquata Ugandensis grubies I bought ((one of them is actually in a cocoon atm!)). 

Reason for their name;  they crane back a lot. 

GUESS WHAT? 

This one grubie is finally a beetle! Still not fully ready, they have just shed for the first time and I have to admit I couldn’t keep my curious butt patient sooo... I carefully opened the cocoon more and let the beetle come out itself when the hole was big enough.  ((Please don’t do what I did if you have pet beetles or consider getting some.)) 

But, look at that, it’s a gal! I can’t be certain of the species yet since they don’t have all of their colors yet and while I don’t have terrarium yet I just ordered one today! 

So for now, they shall be temporarily in this small terra box. Just a little decoration and some beetle jelly in case the little beetle gets hungry. ((They actually borrowed into the soil once I placed them down in the box.))

So while moisting up and mixing the soil of my grubies I noticed one of them ((the Protaetia formosana one)) has these orange spots on both sides next to their head! Such a cute feature they have and led me to give them a name, Chiki!  I might end up naming the mystery grubies too, we’ll see~ 

Heya! 🌺 So I have 2 beetle grubies who haven’t cocooned yet, but guess what? 

One of them had decided to make the cocoon earlier today, January 29th! It is going to be around a month and a bit over before this fella will come out of their cocoon, but I know there is another beetle coming out of cocoon in couple/few weeks since they cocooned on the last day of year 2018. 

OH and my third beetle here! 

Here they are enjoying some beetle jelly! I realized why their movements might be sluggish which is because they were most likely low on energy, meaning a bit hungry so I guided them over to the food since they kept hanging out at the top of the terrarium. Even after they seemed to be finished eating and away from the food they came right back to eat some more! Hopefully, with little help, this little fella gets their strength back in no time and starts to be active like my two other beetles. ((they actually came over to eat for a third time now while I’m writing this hahahh~! You go little fella, devour that jelly!))

I also arranged the terrarium a little bit differently! This one I quite like ((I most likely will keep it this way from now)) and the beetles will have enough space to fly around if they decide to do so.

Nope, that one isn’t Baba. They are one of the smaller grubies and I can’t wait to see what kinda beetle emerges from the cocoon since I have multiple species of beetle grubs.
