Also, I’m taking a web accessibility course and have decided to start writing my own alt-text on Instagram as of today as often as I can to make my artwork more accessible — rather than relying on Meta’s AI to do it for me. If you use a screen reader, have a super slow internet connection or otherwise use the alt text, I hope these image descriptions make this drawing-a-day project more interesting. By the way, this is the tenth year of the project without missing a day! . You guys ♥️ gals! I miss this space! Since moving, I lost my #foodphotography spot which provided natural light for fabulous photos. And, during my leave from food writing, I’m facing my “new normal,” amid personal chaos these last few months. I took a personal day from work today to sleep. It was well needed. Instead, of spending time in a kitchen, I took these savory waffles I made weeks ago from the freezer. Popped them in a toaster. Heated maple syrup. Toasted and chopped walnuts. Peeled and diced a golden delicious apple from #grownyc. Sprinkled a little cinnamon on top. It’s fabulous. I’ll will return to #foodwriting. The lack of having a food spot for natural lighting is elevating me to rethink my food photography. I’m thinking more about the #foodblog. Which has always been a difficult question, and I still don’t have an idea of what direction to go with it. But, ideas are stirring. Watch this space.
