i went for josuhan christmas-y fluff, hope you enjoy ! 

YES!!! I too am an associative synesthete so I’m like,,,,,, basing these off my own experiences because I’m garbage but ALRIGHT HERE WE GO

Rohan associates people with colors. With some people this is easy (read: Josuke is a violet sort of purple), with others it’s less so (Joseph is a dull orange to him, but he could have sworn it would be a brighter orange if he was younger and as energetic as his son).

Sounds also have color to him. Usually people speak in the same tone as their personality, which, lucky for Rohan, isn’t too obnoxious and allows him to tune out people who don’t interest him. With Koichi it’s weird though because he has a yellow personality but speaks in hues of bright blue. It’s not annoying or unappealing though, which is why he hangs around him so much.

However, it IS annoying in Okuyasu though, as he appears as blue but he speaks in a really dirty orange. It throws him off really bad.

Rohan had a bit of a dislike for pink sort of colors, as they struck him as either too obnoxious or too gentle, so meeting Josuke and Yukako was pretty straining on his patience. (Additional Josuhan headcanon: Rohan has a bit less dislike for the color purple since getting a crush on Josuke. He learns to appreciate it and incorporate it more in his art.)

[STARTS SCREAMING]

okay but imagine:

Josuke is like a huge lap dog. When Rohan is working on something and he looks like he’s getting stuck, Josuke will just obnoxiously plop on his lap to calm him down even when Rohan will start yelling for him to get off at first (“DO YOU REALIZE HOW HEAVY YOU ARE”).

Josuke’s way of calming down people works on Rohan in general, actually. He will just. hold him tightly or sit on him and Rohan will struggle and yell for a bit but then he’s too tired to bother so he mellows out.

There was this fic in which Rohan was (I think??) a projecting synesthete, but my personal headcanon is rather that he’s an associative synesthete. Either way, it definitely brings him closer to his art. (I could go in-depth about how sounds and names and people and a couple of other things have colors to them but that’s getting really technical)

Rohan, in general, has heightened senses. He is acutely aware of anyone touching him and certain odors smell a lot worse to him than to other people. Things like sprayed deodorant or perfume are things he tends to avoid, as well as cigarette smoke.

We all know Josuke is a big spender, but it isn’t on purpose. He simply likes the branded stuff better than the non-branded stuff. They just look different. Rohan is the same way, but he puts more stock in paying attention to and buying from certain brands rather than others. ( ‘DID YOU SAY GUCCI. WHERE’ )

The above headcanon extends to food. Josuke will eat off-brand candy, but he prefers things like M&M’s, KitKats, Chupa Chups, you know the kind of candy that’s like three euro a bag in my fucking country.

ohH MY GOD i think i drew that rohan initially to say something like “why josuke’s booty always poppin’” so i suppose he’s offended that he’ll never have a galactic ass like josuke’s
