It all started with McThor, we met him at a few cons and he invited us to join the McVengers, who were already growing as a squad. I personally couldn't decide which mashup to do, until McThor suggested Grimace + Thanos = Grimos. Kittie (@KittieCosplay) and I loved the idea and started to think up ideas for the Cosplay. After Infinity War came out and Starlord calls Thanos Grimos, we knew we had to con crunch and finish Grimos ASAP!
The hardest part was the planning phase, we went months trying to figure out the logistics of the costume. In the end, Grimos is a combination of how Adam Savage did his Totoro and how @doccanecosplay did his Pickle Rick cosplay. Within the framing of Grimos, the top portion was made with EVA foam and the bottom part was made with Reed rings (the same way Adam did his Totoro). The "Debut" was at Monterey Comic Con, which is a local con that allowed us to test run the costume. It was a big hit and we knew the internet would lose it's mind. Everyone loved Grimos and the initial image spread fast and we kept seeing article after article.
At SDCC, we knew it would be a mad houses as usual, but it was great to hear people yell out, "Oh man, it's Grimos!" People loved the cosplay and I'm so happy it brought so many laughs. Also everyone was shocked to realize the Infinity Nuggets were molded from actual McDonald's Nuggets.
Since being invited to the McVengers, the entire process has been a family bonding experience. Kittie and I knew that Grimos would be a hit, but what we got in return were friendships with some amazing Cosplayers. Go check them out! Thank you all for the support and so happy that everyone got a good laugh thanks to Grimos. And if SOMEONE out there can please show Josh Brolin and Chris Pratt what they caused !
