Chron is a time-traveller from a period where technology has advanced to the point of a near magic-like nature. While Chrono-Hopping, an unexplainable malfunction in his Temporal Gauntlets causes the 'Chronomancer,' and alternate versions of himself, to become shunted out of their own respective timelines/realities and into our near future, an era of scientific and technological breakthroughs that we of this day and age would find impressive. Unfortunately for the timeline shifted mancers, their own devices are light-years ahead of the tech this century can produce. Their only hope lies in their ability to incorporate jury-rigged olden tech and cannibalizing the other versions' equipment...
Chron is a douchebag from the future that hops from place to place syphoning the Temporal Energy from people and things that would not be missed in order to prolong his own life. The character starts off as an ass, but slowly realizes the error of his ways as the storyline progresses. And when I say slowly, I mean very, very slowly.
This concept is for a 2d platformer I want to make. It's a bit Megaman in nature, with abilities being unlocked as bosses are defeated or objectives are met. There would also be the option to play the other versions of Chron after beating the game the first time through. Each alt playthrough would be a different "what-if" time line where the protag being played won every fight. Each alternate version has control of a different concept, such as Gravity, Light, Heat/Cold, etc, would have a different personality, and could be of a different gender.
As of now, I have a base idea of what I want Chron's powers to be like. At the least, he would have the ability to syphon, store, and imbue targets with Temporal Energies (T.E. for short). Draining targets would age them and granting T.E. would cause them to revert to an earlier state. Chron would be able to syphon a wall to rubble and then imbue a collapsed stairway to its former glory. There is probably going to be a power to convert health into T.E. and visa-versa, as well as a power to turn back time or temporally pull another Chron out of time to aid himself. I was also thinking of adding a system for a Potential Temporal Energy [P.T.E] power, where Chron could steer the target's potential future by draining and/or granting various alternate timelines. He could syphon a vine's untimely death and increase its chances of becoming a massive plant possible of supporting the weight of a full grown man! He could also transfer P.T.E. from one target to another, allowing for the nigh impossible to occur. And of course, after effecting the target's potential growth, Chron could speed up its aging process, via syphoning, and cause it to become that which he groomed it be.
