It's been a while since the participants of the @berserkexchanges Reclipse 2025 were unveiled, but I am only now sharing the piece I made for the lovely and unrepeatable @gyodragon , whose art has inspired so many and defined the Berserk fandom for over a decade now. The moment I realised who my assignment was, I started sketching and writing and erasing and scraping and ultimately ended up committing to this piece, a depiction of a lonely girl's dream beyond the open window, and the one waiting on the other side.
But I also wanted to include another rough sketch that I couldn't bring myself to fully scrap, but which also somehow feels complementary to the first one.
In this one, I wanted a reimagined scenario of the (now iconic) "in the rain" sketches by gyodragon, but with a twist, where, during the darkest time of his life as the black swordsman, Guts finds himself in a bit of a situation: when trying to hunt down an apostle is not as hard as stumbling upon an underground lake that doesn't reflect back your face, but the deepest regrets of your own heart.
I only saw some sort of resemblance between the two pieces a good while after I was done with them, so this was by no means purposeful. Still, I guess it does feel quite fitting that while Charlotte imagines herself being lifted up by Griffith, Guts contemplates letting himself be dragged down with him.
