plotted starter for @griefkill
the night is quiet and there's a slight chill in the air that tells him there will likely be frost on the grass in the morning. there's never really a good time to kill someone, but he supposes there could be worse ones. it's not like they left him much choice in the matter, anyway—when his handler tells him to jump, he does not even have the opportunity to ask 'how high?' before they snap his leash.
elena gilbert. his handler knew a little about her—that she drank blood, sort of like one of the mythical creatures from fantasy novels, and that her infection is somehow related to progenitor strain. umbrella hadn't had much more information than that, and the connections hadn't been able to find much more. but the whispers of 'progenitor' meant that it was a job for dawnbreaker.
he could knock, he supposes. perhaps she'll come quietly. though he doubts that someone as intelligent as doctor gilbert—who has been running for years at this point—will come quietly. still, it's worth a try; avoiding a fight seems in the best interest of both of them, and he has so little information on her status as a bioweapon that he's not even sure if he'd be able to overpower her if he tried. so he raises his hand up and raps gently on the door in front of him.
