"You're Dad's going to die."
So this is the first post for my blog. Iāve not set this up to get loads of people to read and follow me, itās just a place where I feel comfortable expressing all my feelings about my dad and my everyday life. And who knows maybe a few people going through the same thing might find this helps. I donāt know, I hope so.Ā
My dad has a terminal illness, meaning he has an illness that he wonāt recover from, one which eventually is going to kill him. He has cancer, a tumour in his brain thatās beenĀ progressively growing for 12 years. We only found out last month that it was cancer, and only last week were we told there was no cure. Itās been a massive shock for my whole family to take in, especially for me because closest to my dad.Ā
The doctors have predicted that he probably has around a year,Ā perhapsĀ two if heās lucky. But doctors can never put exact time limits on anything, so we just donāt know.Ā
Iām 17 years old, and being told my dadās going to die is the hardest thing Iāve ever had to deal with, over the past few days Iāve sort of just felt numb.. I donāt know if thatās normal? Thereās been a couple of days where all Iāve felt I can do is lock myself away in my room and cry. The fact that from now on things are only going to get worse is what I think Iām struggling with most. Ā IāmĀ generally a very positive person and when put inĀ situationsĀ where I can see positives I will. But with this there is no positive outcome. Heās going to die and thereā nothing I can do to stop it, I just feel helpless.
If anyone has anything to ask me, or maybe some advise please donāt hesitate to post in my ask, I want to talk to as many people as possible to keep me from bottling everything up.
