And I’m back! Sort of. I know it’s been a while since I’ve showed by face in the Sherlock fandom, but please know that I haven’t left. I’ve been here. Lurking.
Since Orly knows that I’m a huge Potterlock fan, she recommended this story, and I adore it. I think a lot of you already know how big of a fan I am of Mycroft Holmes and his warm heart albeit cold exterior. I can’t get enough of it!
This story captures what it is to be an anxious, self-conscious teen and how struggling with one’s sexual identity makes high school (or even life!) that much more awkward. The character development is also quite well done. There’s a fair bit of hinting into Mycroft’s negative body image and his methods in battling his weight gain; I would have liked to see Greg handle that situation, but all things considered, it was still resolved reasonably well. I really enjoyed watching the relationship between these two grow over the chapters. By having a peek into both their family life, the reader does get a feel of why they are they way that they are and why they can help one another grow. The chapters are of a reasonable length, and they went by quite fast once I was pulled into this story. Green_Violin_Bow has also said they are thinking of writing a sequel to the fic, which is very pleasing to me.
It’s a great fic if you just want something warm to cuddle up with. Enjoy!
