For reference, Lindsay Katai, the writer of Season 3 of Infinity Train said Simon had NPD and thats why he died on her twitter. It doesn't help the story inexplicably tries to paint his death as deserved & the train as in the right despite letting off adults whom did worse & the train kidnapping him as a kid & continually forcing him into situations that would trigger him.
[id: an anon message that reads: "We already know the Infinity train canonly hates people with NPD, so hating trans people isn't as unlikely as one would think." end id]
That's fucked up. A writer saying that about a character, especially one as controversial and complex as Simon, is awful. (tho, I don't have twitter, so if you wanted to send a link to the tweet that'd be great) Also, declaring that your character who dies due to his own selfish, immoral actions at a young age has a specific mental disorder after the show airs is. Well, it's gross. Especially when so many other forces were at play that lead to his demise.
Although, I do want to say that in my post I wasn't implying that the writers are transphobic. The writers have said that the train is fucked up (not in so many words), since it kidnaps people in real time & forces them into awful situations away from their support system/regular life. Again, I havenβt seen the tweet you're referring to, & she very well could be implying that the characters deserved their fates, but I don't think the train is presented as a pillar of morality, at least based on the show itself.
