TIMBER INSIDE AND OUT
This is a lovely little cottage designed by Gray Organschi Architects. Located in Long Island the project is a beautiful example of the diversity that timber can have. Outside the cottage has a raw natural appearance. This has been created by the warn and weathered timber cladding, and enhanced by the grass earth covered roof. Step inside and the cottage takes on a more sleek personality. New, treated timber has been used for the flooring, and to clad the walls and ceilings. The glazing appears to be the only contrasting material to the interior timber work. The result of a minimal materials pallet is that the structure is capable of drawing focus to its surrounding environment. From the inside the views from windows of the surrounding landscape almost serve as an aspect of interior decoration, complimenting the timber cladding, and externally the cottage almost camouflages into its surround.
