Brought to life by the creative minds at GRAVITY CO., LTD, with their passion, style, and nostalgic flair. Working to make its way onto Steam this year. Get ready to take a walk down memory lane — The Good Old Days, an emotionally-charged, retro-style metroidvania adventure game. Coming to Linux and brought to life as a love letter to the wild spirit of youth. Packed with 16-bit flair, heartfelt storytelling, and a strong dose of ‘80s and ‘90s nostalgia. Taking place in the rural town of Arostia in the ambiguous year "19XX". The Good Old Days follows Sean, a gutsy young teen with a fire in his heart and a heavy burden on his shoulders. After a shady loan shark shows up with bad news and an impossible demand, Sean’s thrown into a desperate race against time. His father's long-lost debt must be repaid by the end of the day — or else. To make matters worse, his best friends — Foodie, Bruce, and Doc — have been locked away. Doing so deep underground in the city’s twisting, secret-filled underbelly. But instead of crumbling under the pressure, Sean sees something else: an adventure. Finally, the dream he and his crew — known as The Noogies — always talked about is coming to life. But is he really ready for it?
The Good Old Days | Official Announcement Trailer
The Good Old Days isn’t about slaying world-ending monsters or saving princesses. It’s about something much more grounded — and maybe even more relatable. It’s about exploring, surviving, collecting cash, clearing debt, and doing it all with style and heart. There’s no “right way” to win. You can also track down hidden cash, beat intense trial stages, take on side quests, and gamble (yes, really!). Play mini-games, or even try your luck in the town lottery. Every route has its risks, and every decision matters. You’ll control a party of four unique characters. Each with special abilities that affect how you explore and interact with the world. Use them wisely to uncover secrets, unlock new paths, and take on quests that impact not just the story — but the ending itself.
Endgame
And here’s the kicker: The Good Old Days doesn’t just give you one ending. Every time you beat the game, more of the true story unfolds. Your choices shape the outcome. With each playthrough, you peel back the layers of the world and the people in it. Revealing different fates for Sean and his friends. Visually, the title is a pixelated dream. Crafted by veteran developers, every scene oozes charm, with vibrant, expressive spritework that feels straight out of a classic SNES or Sega Genesis title. But enhanced with modern tech that pushes it to another level. If you ever grew up dreaming of real metroidvania adventure with your childhood friends, The Good Old Days will hit you right in the feels. With easter eggs, retro pop culture references, and that unmistakable “remember when” vibe. This release is more than just a throwback — it’s also a tribute to the past, and a story about growing up, facing responsibility, and holding onto that spark of youth. There’s no confirmed release date just yet, but there is a Linux-friendly demo out now on Steam (thanks to Proton). So you can dive in early and see what the buzz is about. So grab your controller (or your keyboard), and get ready to explore Arostia. Clear your debt. Rescue your friends. And maybe, just maybe, rediscover the fire that made The Good Old Days so unforgettable in the first place. Due to make its way onto Steam fall 2025 for Linux and Windows PC.
