@kylos already has a tutorial on how to make the gradient effect which is what I used, so I won’t repeat that bit of it, but I’ll show you how to add this effect to links!
This tutorial will show you how to add gradient links to
Entire Text
Single Words
Multiple Words
Multiple Words that are not next to eachother
Bolded / Italicized text
Follow kylos tutorial first and then come back to this tutorial. Everything will be done on the HTML text editor screen, you can hit preview to preview it but DO NOT switch back to rich text editor, if you do you’ll lose the gradient effect and you’ll have to start over.
If you want the entire text to be linked like this:
Step 1: At the beginning of the text type <a href=“https://URL.com”> (make sure you include the opening and closing brackets!!!)
Step 2: At the very end of all of the code type your closing anchor tag </a>
Your code should look like this
If you want one word (or multiple words in a row) linked like this:
Step 1: Locate the word (or words) you want to be linked, I want the word instagram linked so I’m going to look for the “i” and “m”. Once you find it, the letters are wrapped in span tags.
Step 2: I need to find the opening span tag for “i”. Right BEFORE that type <a href=“https://URL.com”>.
Step 3: Now I’ll locate the closing span tag for “m”. Right AFTER the closing span tag, I’ll type </a>
The code should look like this.
If you want multiple words linked but they’re not next to eachother like this:
Step 1: Follow the steps from the previous example and repeat it for the second word!
If you want your links bolded or italicized as well as a gradient like this:
Step 1: If you want to bold the text type <b> BEFORE your opening anchor tag. and type </b> AFTER your closing anchor tag.
Step 2: If you want to Italize the text, type <i> BEFORE your opening anchor tag and type </i> AFTER your closing anchor tag.
Step 3: If you want to bold and italicize your text, type <b><i> BEFORE your opening anchor tag and type </i></b> AFTER your closing anchor tag. The order of these tags is important!!!!!
Your code should look like this:
(Some of the tags are split onto two lines, I left it like this to show you in case it happens to you too while editing. If you change your mind and delete the bold or italic formatting, make sure you delete all of it and don’t leave any brackets behind! Also, make sure you’re not accidentally typing inside of span tags!)
Hopefully you found this helpful! If you want to do other text formatting along with gradient text, you probably know enough about html to put that in yourself. If you need some more clarification on anything or have any questions I’d be happy to help!
