Current apps
I tried some existing health and wellbeing apps. Lifesum has you input everything you eat and provides tips to keep your diet balanced based on your goals. Google Fit tracks your movement, calories burned, and weight over time. 8fit provides workout plans and logs your exercise.
Side note: In terms of mood apps, Daylio is basically exactly what I had envisioned and I found others like it. With that in mind, I’ve decided to focus on food and diet.
Best features:
Delightful aesthetic design & graphics/animations
Steps are automatically counted
Apps connect with each other (mostly)
Sharing service between selected friends
General food tracking (glasses of water, number of fruit/veges)
Graphs to show progress over time
Goals and plans
Main problems:
Being pestered to sign up for a premium service
No app seems to do everything (for free at least)
No general food group tracker (everything is very specific)
With food tracking, you have to either keep inputting everything you eat as you go, or you have to remember everything when inputting at the end of the day
Through my design, I would like to address three of these problems with an app for food tracking that is simple. It will not have any premium service. It won’t count calories etc. It will simply ask for number of servings of different food groups the user has eaten. The app will be about balance and will focus on the food pyramid. It would be nice to include a graph feature to track progress. The user can select the groups throughout the day, possibly using a phone widget (another aspect for me to design) so that it is easy to access. Adding on to this, a web extension could be beneficial too.

This is how the instruction page looks like! I added because the first time user may not know how the app works! A skip button is on the top right corner as well.
Awake.
Awake is the app for helping you to get to sleep and wake up better. Calm music function provides a variety of different music let help you to relax and stress relief.
Awake is the perfect app for daily alarm clock using especially for those who always press the snooze button. This app also includes a series of fun tasks for users to wake up easily. It allows users to choose different levels of difficulties and never be used to play games.

I am deciding what logo and name I should call my app. Everyone like how “Awake” is being read and how the “A” and “w” kind of parallel to each other.
So, I am gonna call my app “Awake.”
An alarm clock app that forces users to wake up by completing tasks!
