As how some butches tie their butchness into their gender identity, I very much feel the same with my femmeness. I don’t identify with womanhood, I’m not a woman, I’m a femme. When I dated a man, I felt so out of place in my femininity, like any time I tried to engage with it I was putting on an ill fitting costume. I developed gender dysphoria, wore baggy clothes, hated how much I had to force myself to “like” it when a man would express sexual interest in me. But since the realisation that I was made for lesbianism, suddenly being feminine felt so right. It’s a performance, sure, but now it’s mine, it’s for the dykes, it’s for butches, and when they express interest in my femininity and sexuality it’s downright euphoric. Life is better when you find your place with your gender expression and know who you want to invite to see your performance.

I think we all need a reminder that “treating them right” is a case by thing and not a one size fits all thing, especially with butches and femmes since we all have unique experiences with womanhood and gender roles. Some butches want princess treatment, some butches would recoil at the phrase. Some femmes will adhere strictly to the performance of femininity and want you to play along, others may be more fluid with how they play the role. A lot of femmes and butches dance a fine line around what femininity and masculinity is, it’s one of the great things about us and it makes us unique. If you want to treat someone right in your lesbian relationships you need to talk to each other about your experiences and how they’ve shaped what your perception of “right” is.

Hmm. I do not have a foot fetish BUT the idea of worshiping at someones feet is something I very much can get behind.
