I am working on an OpenGL benchmark that will allow me to measure pixel fill rate and triangle throughput values on early professional 3D accelerators (including those which don’t support features like texturing). The benchmark is almost done so I have to test it on multiple cards to be sure that it works correctly.

I was always used to have old PCs and PC components everywhere around me but that’s not true anymore. I’ve found only one working desktop PC with AGP. It’s my dad’s old workstation with two Pentium III CPUs at 1GHz, 512MB RAM and many PCI cards inside (including a USB 2.0 controller and an additional ATA66 IDE for more hard drives). On the other side, there are many old graphics cards all over the house. I took more than ten of them (1996-2000) and started the benchmarking.

I spent most of the weekends in the last two months working on a benchmark that allows me to measure fill rate and triangle rate performance on early consumer and workstation-class 3D accelerators. All the programing and debugging work is done. We even created a native UNIX version what works everywhere if the system contains X11/Motif and OpenGL libraries.
