Disabling Chrome GPU Acceleration
Common command line switches and arguments to disable GPU assisted resources. Â
--disable-3d-apis Disables client-visible 3D APIs, in particular WebGL and Pepper 3D. This is controlled by policy and is kept separate from the other enable/disable switches to avoid accidentally regressing the policy support for controlling access to these APIs.Â
--disable-accelerated-2d-canvas Disable gpu-accelerated 2d canvas.Â
--disable-accelerated-compositing Disables accelerated compositing.Â
--disable-accelerated-layers Disables the hardware acceleration of 3D CSS and animation.Â

No amount of CPU cores and clock speed will ever solve Android's UI lag. Although GPU acceleration won't solve everything, it would work wonders in improving Android's usability.
Designing a GPU-accelerated graph database
For the last couple of months we've been looking into using GPU acceleration in our graph database. By utilizing the numerous thread processors in modern graphic cards, we hope to exceed the traditional boundaries of CPU concurrency. We think it's possible for us to implement an extremely fast traversal logic using GPU memory as read-only hot-cache and look forward to further testing the concept. More details to follow...
