Last winter, when my child came to me and said she wanted to run the Turkey Trot I didn’t think she would follow through. She had a teacher who she is a very fond of and I guess she was look for affirmation. We started training in the spring, and with each training session this little girl showed me something about her heart and her willingness to see a goal to it’s completion. I know I wasn’t the best coach because being a runner I was hard on her yet as a father I had to keep in mind I was there to support and encourage. I trained her like I would’ve trained the seven year old me. The busy summer and early fall went by and I got worried she wouldn’t be ready because the training schedule had suffered but she focused when she needed to most. We found ourselves sprinting up hills, running through roads of abandoned factories and rainy Sundays. At times, she couldn’t see on rainy days because of the mist fogging up her glasses yet she never took her eyes off the prize. This was just a silly meaningless race perhaps but it signifies something greater: belief, dedication and passion. What’s worth working for if it’s not something you’re passionate about? Spend more time loving what you do. If you haven’t found it, spend more time searching for it. All the other stuff is just noise trying to kill your piece of mind. #WinTheDay #GoVioletGo #PushaV #TurkeyTrot2018 #theseparationisinthepreparation #WhyNotYou https://www.instagram.com/p/Bqf0ewtnozgYFw0iOQIo0CFyCzD5LUFfPJ4eq80/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1fbbbcyx27ne4
