What. The actual hell. Was that? Ren stared, almost slacked jawed at the sight of the creature walking around the area. It looked like a twisted version of Godzilla but it clearly wasn't something even remotely natural. Everyone was freaking out, trying to figure out how to handle this thing but the more Ren looked at it, the more sad she suddenly felt. She had seen a lot of animals from all walks of life, good and bad, she could tell he was in pain. Just looking at him was painful.
Kamakura, Japan, October 11th, 2016
The monster makes landfall near the seaside Japanese city en route for Tokyo. Its sudden and unexpected arrival had a massive amount of the city’s population under extreme panic and thus either fled from the city or take any shelter that was available. Each step it took wrecked havoc upon everything laying in its path, destroying the city with its movement alone. It seemingly appeared to have taken no notice of the civilians and buildings that were simply in its way, as if, to many, it appeared to be just a mindless force of destruction.
Of course, this was not the first time this particular beast attacked Japan. Just several hours ago, it came ashore in Kamata in the Ota Ward, in the form of a fish-like creature resembles a hybrid between a moray eel and a frilled shark but with spiky dorsal plates, those similar to Titanus Gojira, on its back and a pair of stubby, undeveloped forelimbs. It left behind a trail of destruction in its rampage, smashing cars and destroying buildings as it waddles through the street, secreting a blood-like liquid from its gills and poured it onto the streets.
As it approached Shinagawa, the Prime Minister of Japan reluctantly deployed a squadron of attack helicopters, from Chiba to Shinagawa, to engage the beast. Suddenly, as they approach, the creature stops moving and falls flat onto the ground. Then, it begins to evolve, sprouting tiny arms and standing upright on its hind legs before emitting a deafening roar. The monster continues walking through Shinagawa and is confronted by the helicopters, but soon, the attack was called off when the Prime Minister learned civilians were still evacuating the area. The monster’s dorsal fins begin glowing red and giving off steam, and it roars loudly before dropping back to a horizontal stance and running back into the ocean.
The Japanese government immediately began formulating strategies to deal with the monster should it return, while a representative of the American ambassador collaborated with a team of officials researching the monster. During that time, a secret scientific organization known as MONARCH, who specialized in the hunting of Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms and the protection of ancient giant creatures designated Titans, which it believed were essential to the preservation of life on Earth, soon became aware of the situation currently taking uphold in Japan. Dr. Ishiro Serizawa then sends Ren Saito to Japan to study the behavior of this new M.U.T.O. and observe it while to find and retrieve the remains of research conducted by the formal, currently missing MONARCH member, Goro Maki; who have been studying the creature ever since he discovered it during and after his time with his agency, and attempted to publish his research, only for the American Department of Energy to intercept and prevent its release. MONARCH was never told, not even by the Americans, that the monster had such resemblance to the King of the Monsters or did anyone else knew of its true nature…
