               Winter  in  Hawkins  is  relentless—  there’s  something  about  it  that  makes  it  even  worse  than  New  York  ,  even  more  biting  .   Maybe   it’s  the   lack   of   mom—  regardless  ,  the  grass  is  covered  in  snow  and  the  sidewalk  is  slick  with  ice  and  trying  to  walk  anywhere  outside  is  like  tempting  some  cold  and  painful  fate  .  Hand  comes  up  to  the  wicked  bruise  on  Sam’s  arm  ,  pokes  it  softly—  part  of  her  wants  to  offer  to  get  some  ice  to  put  on  it  ,  but  the  other  part  of  her  is  reminded  of  how  painfully  ironic  that  would  be  . “  It   looks  cool  ,  though—  it  makes  you  look  even  more  badass  .  ”

               Eyes  fall  on  the  other’s  outfit  ,  and  grin  finds  itself  on  her  features  .  El  can’t  help  but  be  reminded  of  her  previous  punk  aesthetic—  can’t  help  but  miss  it  .  “  Bitchin’  .  ”

              ❛   yeah , yeah , yeah ,  ’   tongue juts out to salivate chapped lips , a cigarette poised between index & thumb , rolling between his fingertips idly , bored .   ❛  when does it get to the good part , this is all ever so boring , love .  ’    he’s mumbling , it’s a wonder you can comprehend what words tumble .  tapping at the brim , ash cascades .    ❛   not rude , jus’ blunt .  i thought there’d be , you know , a point ?   ’   cue the scoff .

               She’s  staring—  not  because  she’s  being  rude  ,  no  ,  but  because  she  can’t  find  the  words  to  say  how  sick  she  thinks  the  others  make-up  is  (  maybe  there  are  some  interesting  people  that  go  to  Hawkins  High—  Lydia  just  wishes  they  were  easier  to  find  )  .  “  I  dig  your  whole—  ”  and  hand  raises  to  point  ,  gesture  at  her  own  face  in  example ,  “  That  .  ”
