ECNEPHIAS, the return of the masters of Italian Dark Metal.
Six years after their last release, "Seven - The Pact Of Debauchery", ECNEPHIAS—a leading band in the Italian Dark Metal and Gothic/Extreme scene—officially announce their long-awaited return with a new album titled "Liturgia Della Notte". Founded in 1996 and led by frontman and composer Mancan, the band has distinguished itself over the years with a unique sound that blends the Blackened Death Metal of their early days with Gothic and Doom influences and Mediterranean theatricality. With this new release, the band explores even darker and more introspective soundscapes while remaining true to a lyrical identity rooted in occultism, decadent poetry, folklore and inner turmoil. The new record represents a natural evolution of the path taken with previous albums, combining heavy riffs, melancholic atmospheres and a strong lyrical focus represented in Italian. The album will be released on December 11th via My Kingdom Music on digital platforms, as well as on CD and vinyl.
Mancan takes us into the depths of "Liturgia Della Notte", sharing his thoughts on this new creation: "This album marks ECNEPHIAS's eighth release in a career spanning over twenty years, and it brings us great satisfaction—not least because of the significant new elements it introduces. First and foremost, it is sung entirely in Italian—a choice born of the need to interpret, feel, and communicate the lyrics in a more authentic, intense, and profound way, as this is our natural element. The second new feature is a more direct approach to both riff-writing and composition in general—a shift that has given to the tracks more power. The third distinctive element is the connection between the lyrics and certain Italian films from the 80s and 90s—movies that may be lesser-known but are fundamental to me, as well as to the horror and esoteric cinema genres (Solamente nero, L'ossessa, La casa dalle finestre che ridono, L'anticristo, Non si sevizia un Paperino, Demonia, La chiesa, and Il demonio). Last element, I want to highlight the special attention paid to the melodies; they bear a distinctly rock-oriented stamp, yet remain steeped in pitch-black atmosphere. The result is a fascinating concept deeply rooted in Italy—and the South in particular. I am convinced that this new chapter represents a turning point for the band and has the potential to become a true milestone in our discography. That is why I like to think of "Liturgia Della Notte" not merely as a comeback, but as a genuine new chapter, darker and more personal than ever." — Mancan (Frontman & Founder)
The official tracklist, cover art, and release date for the album's first single—which will be accompanied by an official music video—will be revealed shortly, while major live dates are being prepared for the coming year.
A new dawn of darkness and poetry is already a reality. Welcome to the new nightmare brought to you by ECNEPHIAS!
