Got Candy: A Real Candy Land with a Chocolate Spot
Got Candy is the name of this topic of interest. The reason I feel this place is so noteworthy is because this small local business not only has a food truck called "The Chocolate Spot", but a store front as well (located on Kentucky Avenue in downtown Lakeland, Florida). The owner named Lea is a woman as passionate about her sweets as she is her customers. Taking the time to craft each sweet by hand it's no wonder this establishment is bursting with business
The store features many sweets from a wide variety of truffles to the wonderful selection of ice cream.
When I was at the store I tried several things, the first was a "Hot Banana Split", this was as fun to eat as it is fun to say, its an actual banana with chocolate and marshmallow creme baked into it all beautifully topped with whipped cream and a cherry. This product is hot, but sweet in all the right ways, the chocolate is enough to make it's presence known but not overwhelm the banana or the creme flavor. I would recommend this dessert to anyone who wants something a little unusual but still quite comforting.
The other thing I tried was something of a dream, it was a tortilla filled with, chocolate, marshmallows, and cinnamon sugar. Lea warmed it so the marshmallows were nice and melty, combine this with the sweetly melted chocolate and the cinnamon to dull the sweetness and you had a dish that my taste buds screamed for. All in all Got Candy is a place for the whole family, with a wonderful staff and a fun selection, that will keep you coming back time and time again.
