[ a goodbye letter ]

He isn’t GOOD at writing letters, but he figures if this is the last Les’ll hear from him, he’d better make it as good as possible. Jack just hopes it’s enough.

“DEAR LES,

How’s it going, kid? Hear things have been pretty rough back home, huh? But you’re tough. Always have been. So you’ll be able to stick this thing out. I don’t doubt that for a second. I know Davey’s real worried about you, but he’ll be home soon, which’ll help you some, won’t it? I hear that’s how FAMILY works sometimes.

I’m afraid I won’t be joining him, though. Got some important business to take care of here. It’s so important I can’t even WRITE about it without getting into trouble. Davey’ll be able to explain later. But I want you to know that I believe in you, okay? I believe that you’ll shake whatever’s got you, and teach it a lesson. Do it for ME, will you, kid?

you’re not really much of a kid anymore, are you? you’ve probably grown up a whole lot since we left. hate to have missed it.
