I havenāt posted in a while because Iāve been working on some fanfic stuff which I hope to finish at some point (Iāve started like 5 things and havenāt finished anything yet š)
Anyway, I am here because the script for the final episode was released on the Emmy website because it was nominated for one...
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Ā Ā ***cries***
Unfortunately, they have now taken the script down because of the way it has been ripped to shreds (both literally and figuratively) on the internet. However, I have downloaded it onto my computer so this shall not be a problem.Ā
(Also if you wish to read it yourself someone has re-uploaded it so itās available here. It shouldnāt take too long to read to be fair, itās only 45 pages long... including the cover page sooooooo)
Sanrion
Thereās noĀ Sanrion in it Iām sad to say. I mean thereās a hint here where Tyrion is brought into the Dragon Pitt which we got in the episode:
And here when the Lords and Ladies of Westeros vote Bran as King and Sansa says the North will become independent, which again we got in the episode:
Iāve read through the rest of the script and thereās nothing else Sanrion related in the slightest. 2D truly did the dirty on Sanrion and Sanrion shippers considering they built it up so much in the final season but we can lookĀ at the rest of the script and laugh at how dumb 2D are. (2D is what r/Freefolk are calling David and Dan now because of their two-dimensionalĀ storytelling š)
Tyrion has become a monotheistĀ
There are four separateĀ references to Christianity in the script which considering that is not a religion in that world is rather ridiculous. I think itās evidence that they were not in the mindset of the world of Game of Thrones when they wrote the script. Most fan fiction writers wouldnāt make these mistakes.Ā
One of them is a thought Tyrion has after finding out heās not mentioned in theĀ āA Song of Ice and Fireā.
The others include referring to Daenerys as her Satanic Majesty when she walks down the steps to talk to the Dothraki:
The third again involves what Tyrion is thinking, this time during Daenerys speech to the Dothraki:
And finally, the way Daenerys lies in Jonās arms after he kills her is a reference to a statue of Mary and Jesus by Michelangelo Buonarroti:
Spelling mistakes
There are a few spelling/grammar mistakes and yes mistakes happen, I know, I make them a lot but considering this was uploaded to the Emmy website because itās been nominated for an award you would have thought someone would have bothered to read it through first.Ā
Tyrion sitting done instead of down:
Grandmaester instead of Grand Maester (not to mention how can Sam be a Grand Maester with only one link in it?! Grand Maesters are meant to know more than normal Maester and that would involve more than one link but anyway...)
Also, nuzzleās instead of nuzzles:
I actually ran the script through Grammarly (because I was procrastinatingĀ from writing the fan fiction Iām working on š) and there are commas and hyphens missing as well as a number of commas where commas ought not to be.
Cutting one of the best lines from the episode
When Jon says goodbye to Arya, a moment done mostly right, they cut the best line from the conversation!
A stupid joke
The memes on r/Freefolk about this are amazing not going to lie so that makes this a bit better but 2D have to be seriously tone-deaf to make a joke like this in the script for the final episode. It just feels so out of place:
Honestly, when I first saw a screenshot of this I thought it was a joke script not a joke in the actual script!
Hang on I think I missed one, oh yeah thatās right
DROGON MELTING THE IRON THRONE BY ACCIDENT
Iām soooooo not making this up:
Yep, the Iron Throne was a dumb bystander apparently.Ā If it didnāt hurt so much that theyād wrecked the show this badly Iād laugh.Ā
At this point, the joke that Drogon melted the Iron Throne because he saw the dagger sticking out of Daenerysā chest and thought āpointy thingā then looked at the Iron Throne and thoughtĀ ālots of pointy things, must burn the pointy thingsā makes more sense than the actual script!
Also, no one sitting on the Iron Throne? Literally yes but someone does end up fulfilling the role because Bran becomes King so not exactly āno oneā š
2D are hacks and I really think this script is evidence that they didnāt even try. I havenāt read many scripts before but based on what Iāve seen, calling this 'not goodā is putting it mildly.Ā
It does showcase the amazing talent of the actors though, who managed to do a lot with this script considering...
