Considering how the show ended and if we go along with the major strokes being the same, its really ironic that farther a woman is from the archetype of a romantic heroine, the more traditional is her romantic arc . Sansa as a character could be touted as the most traditionally romantic character let alone female character in the series yet among all the protagonists, she didn't have a happy romantic arc. On the other hand, women like Brienne and Arya who drift away from the archetype of traditional romantic heroines actually ended up having a romantic story though it was short-lived.
Hi there!
I must admit that I think this is mostly D&D and their strange ideas on women. I think they left out the epilogue so to say.
And I'm not sure you can even call it romance just because they had sex. Gendry asking Ary@ to be his lady was very sweet though.
Brienne in the books is a very romantic character : she is tall and strong and ugly but she would want a romance. And I'm curious how Braime will play out in the books. And if she'll get someone else after Jaime. (Still not convinced that Tyrion of all people will be the Lannister who survives, lol. I'm so attached to Jaime as Hand, 🤣)
I also think that Gendry@ was fan service at least how it played out on the show. ary@ won't be an adult in the books. And I think she'll only get together with Gendry once she returns from her adventures. It will be an afterthought in the epilogue. Like Pippin Took getting married. It happens but it is in no way important for the story.
And obviously I think Sansa will get a romance, not necessarily with a happy ending.
Thanks for the ask!
As the HBO series has moved beyond the incredibly intricate material of George R.R. Martin’s unfinished series of fantasy novels, the visuals have gotten better and better, while the characterization and plotting have gotten worse and worse.

Alright, so I know everyone and their mother has an opinion about the final season of Game of Thrones, but after seeing the last episode, I’d also like to share mine.
The thing is, if you’d told me a few years ago where the characters would end up in the finale, I would have thought it completely logical. Jon going to live with the Wildlings, Sansa becoming Queen in the North, Arya forsaking life as a lady and becoming an explorer, Tyrion serving as Hand of the King, Brienne and Podrick becoming knights of the Kingsguard, and really the final destination of most of the characters who are still alive – those are all lovely endpoints for those characters. Even the characters who ended more tragically, like the Hound dying to finally kill his brother, Jaime dying together with Cersei, and Daenerys becoming the Mad Queen; these were not illogical conclusions for them, with all the foreshadowing presented in previous seasons. And while I wasn’t expecting Bran of all people to be crowned King, he is the most impartial person in Westeros and will likely make a decent ruler, so that’s not too bad.
On paper, it’s not a bad way to end things. But in my opinion, they took entirely the wrong route to get to this ending. And the first staple of storytelling is that it’s not the endpoint that matters, it’s the journey you took to get there. For Game of Thrones, I feel as though the whole show was like climbing a long, winding staircase; they took the stairs one step at a time in the first four seasons, began skipping a step here and there in seasons five and six, ran up two steps at a time in season seven, and finally just said ‘fuck it’ and rode the elevator for season eight.
And it’s a damn shame.
Davos: you cant do this, you have responsibilities
Gendry, getting in a row boat and chasing Arya's ship: fuck responsibility, I'm going adventuring with my wife

Someone: So how was the ending of GoT?
Me:
Why is every show pulling a Game of Thrones ending now? Like.. WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK? Stop ignoring YEARS of story and character development. Stop ruining what we could remember as a great show but ends up being such a disgrace. This tarnishes all the work and love put into it, and makes it absolute hell to remember it with any kind of positive feelings. I’m just SO FUCKING TIRED of investing so much of me into these shows just to come out completely heartbroken, saddened, angered and disappointed. Having said that... Thank you for 15 years, Supernatural, and I’m sorry you had to go out like that.
I must confess, I will ALWAYS love Jonsa but I hate fics where Sansa ends up not loving anyone but Jon and ends up pining for him to come back. I want Sansa to have a proper lover, one that treats her to endless orgasms and lemoncakes that isn't Jon. That way when he does get his shit together and he comes back with a declaration of love, expecting her to return it, she can at least give him the middle finger first...
YES! Anon, you get me! Jonsa is, has been and always will be my biggest ship for her, but I do enjoy other pairings with her. The only other one that is probable as of the ending is Podsa, which is probably one of the better ships for her. (But I also loved show!Sansaery and show!Theonsa)
Thanks for the ask :) Feel free to come back to my ask box any time you want to talk about anything GoT/ASoIaF-related, I absolutely love having conversations with people about the series!
