happy birthday !!!!!! could u talk more about goosedown ?
OOOOO ITS THE FUCKIN WIZARD !!!!!
goosedown (and compatriots. more on that later.) are my most recent to be honest they got undercut by some of my more recent guys so as of yet there is admittedly not toooo too much to tell. i mean still more than im willing to try to jam all at once into an ask because i dont want to make ppl's dashboards unbearable to scroll through but. sorry anyway
the basics are that goosedown is a wizard (or druid ? or sorcerer ? she never keeps it straight) who is both very old and very powerful, living in a strange and, literally dark, realm. she's been a teacher to many different heroes of the realm over the centuries, preparing them to fight a Great Evil that remerges every couple of generations, except one time it resurfaces early when an even greater, more insidious evil starts throwing off the balance of things and threatening the whole world. so she, this other "ancient evil" (named vitreous), and her most recent and reluctant "apprentice" (named dawn) all have to embark on a quest together to go stop it !
goosedown acts very warm and grandmotherly and whimsical, but its a bit unclear how much of this is genuine and how much of it is manipulation. while she's usually the first in their little group to insist they right some wrong or intervene in some injustice she also lies frequently and with ease, lets others risk their safety in her stead, and is the first to abandon all altruistic pretenses in the interest of saving her own skin. she's also cursed, though the specifics are unclear and she's very cagey about it, and similarly will tell lots of conflicting stories about her past (though even she seems to get genuinely mixed up at times about what are lies and what's actually true). she has a lot of ice-based magic and can similarly do like a kind of wild shape thing (but again, pretty much only into arctic/wintery type animals)
again trying not to submit to the need to attach images to any of these but ive actually drawn her a least once. she's just a normal old woman. just an innocent old woman.
