The tree went up at work, had the opportunity to put on #theornaments- I figured it was time to put up my tree, I’m still working on the #gifts. Some of my #favoritememories from when I was a kid are centered on this particular #tradition. From helping my grandma to put the #ornaments on #thetree and then decorating #sugarcookies to the times we didn’t live with my #grandma and setting up our own #tree. The last picture is the tree I’ve had since before my mission. It was a tumultuous time in the apartment, one of our roommates was a royal douche and I didn’t help. We had another roommate go to the hospital, when he got out his sister had come up to take care of him. I remember wanting to do something for him, to help him feel the spirit of #Christmas- so I spent $5 got the blanket and busted out the scissors and duct tape and went to town. We strung up some lights and enjoyed our tree. It was a hard but hearty Christmas without #family. While it may not be as pretty as the tree at work, I am still very proud of it and all that it represents. I am grateful for the #friends who have stepped in over the years, you’ve made quite the difference in my life, adopted me for the #holidays, and helped me immensely. I don't have to be a nice person...to be good and doing what's right. Sure of most of my time is dealing with difficult panhandlers and transients. But this was different...she never asked or beg for anything. She was just trying to get though the cold night. Most homeless have some shelter or at least a blanket, but she had neater. So I give her the free food that I received from the Framers Market and warmed it up for her. As well as giving her my gloves and beanie. And you might be thinking...I just did that because she was an old woman. I honestly thought that she a young man. Because who in there right mind would be in the cold without a blanket.
