The End is Near
I don’t have much time left as I've been diagnosed with malaria. It’s been three years since I had my baby girl, Elizabeth, and two years since Elijah died of typhoid. I have been lucky enough to survive this long and I hope that my child will have the opportunity to live longer than me. They say that the native-born inhabitants, like my Elizabeth, has immunity from the perilous diseases that has killed so many of us. Â
I've made arrangements for Elizabeth to live with my uncle John in Jamestown where she can hopefully have a better life. The female population has been rising lately and the Southern colonies will soon overflow with families. Our population not only grew with new imports but also with it's fertility making! I guess it really was a good idea to come to the New World. Fare winds!
