now what?
There’s no arguing about how emotionally draining and exhausting this year was. There is no need to sugarcoat it and no reason to lie. The pandemic has affected all of us, maybe even changed us. It's brought out the worst in some of us, led us to very dark places and made us believe there was no way out. For the most of us, 2020 held very few bright moments. Truth is we don't know what things will be like two months from now, or six months down the road, or at the end of next year. But I‘m still hoping 2021 will be better. I hope there'll soon be light at the end of this very dark tunnel. That we can eventually do all these things we once took for granted. To meet friends and watch a movie at the cinema, to have a piece of cake at a café, to dance the night away with both the people we love and complete strangers. To go to concerts. To hug our grandparents. Just because we can. Just because we feel like it. I hope we will never slip into that familiarity again. Into taking these moments that once felt pretty insignificant for granted. I hope we'll always value them in the future, knowing what it is like to miss them.
good riddance, 2020 / n.j.

Percy: okay guys, year in review, what’s the craziest moment of 2020?
Sadie: me screaming “fuck” for as loud as I can during lockdown in Brooklyn House. It lasted for nearly three minutes, and Carter didn’t even come in and beat my ass. Bast then congratulated me. I mean, it was quite impressive.
Carter: the craziest thing I did was sleep for 24 hours. Literally a whole day passed by and I was unconscious. The apocalypse could’ve happened, I don’t even know. I dreamt that the world was made out of cheese. Sadie was eating Walt without even recognising him. It was very stressful. I woke up in tears.
Magnus: I actually did stuff since the virus isn’t harmful to me. I went to the White House once and gave AOC a high five and then raided a kitchen of a house that had Trump 2020 signs in front of it.
Percy: well, I graduated! Which may not seem very crazy but I never thought I would do something like that, especially through lockdown. I got accepted into a college too, and I still have my awesome girlfriend and my best friend and my amazing family. That’s surreal to me.
Percy:
Percy: but another really close second to my graduation is when Estelle ate a whole cake that Paul made in a matter of five minutes. She wasn’t even bothered. Paul was equally appreciative and afraid.
Apollo: well, I mean, I turned into a God again. And in my lifetime that’s only happened once before so that’s definitely something. But it was extremely awkward as hell, and all I wanted to do was smack everyone. It’s a miracle in itself that I didn’t fight the king of gods, verbally assault Ares until he cried, sobbed myself or flee from the throne room to my sun chariot only to fly myself into the sun.
Apollo: 0/10, I do not recommend being family with the Olympians.
