More Shlorpian specbio stuff
Gooblers are organisms that have evolved alongside Shlorpians and have developed a close symbiotic relationship. Shlorpian bodies provide shelter and food for gooblers while gooblers clean up dead matter, and more importantly, prevent parasitic mosses from invading the body by eating them before they grow out of control.
Gooblers will usually colonize Shlorpian bodies while they are still developing. In fact, Shlorpian nursery workers will purposely introduce gooblers to sprouting Shlorpians to defend vulnerable sprouting Shlorpians from parasites. The goobler lifespan is very short, lasting only 4-10 days. Generations of gooblers will live on a Shlorpian before they ever leave the nursery!
Under stress, Shlorpians will quiver and heat up to a temperature uncomfortable for gooblers. In response to discomfort, gooblers will eject from their burrows. Goobler legs adept at burrowing and jumping, allowing quick evacuation. This phenomenon is colloquially called “gooblering”.
