I just found your blog and it's awesome! :D Went through all the pages right away. The one with "He had no arms or legs. He couldn’t see, hear or speak. This is how he led a nation." made m laugh out loud! Ps. Do tell the Jon Hamm at Bonnaroo story!
SOMEONE FINALLY ASKED. Okay, so.
This past summer at Bonnaroo (a four-day music festival in Manchester, TN) my sister and I are there, and we’re in line to see Chris Hardwick perform. After the opening act, which was this lovely woman whose name I unfortunately don’t remember and who was probably forgotten by everyone in the excitement that came after, she announces that there’ll be a special secret guest: Zach Galifinakas.
Cool, right? So everyone freaks out, and he comes out and does his set. About halfway through, we hear this whistling over the speakers. Out onto the stage comes Jon Hamm himself, whistling and throwing gummy bears at Zach, and we freak out even more. Here’s a pic that my sister took (I being unable to take a pic, what with all the aforementioned freaking out I was doing). Seriously, though, it was amazing. This was only a month after the finale had aired, and I was still feeling all of the emotions from that, so it kind of felt like I’d conjured him there with my mind. The previous day we’d seen Cameron Esposito, and during her set she’d name dropped Christina Hendricks, so I was wondering who from MM I was going to hear about/encounter that next day. If I recall correctly, I may have bet actual money that I was going to meet and give a blowjob to John Slattery.
After the show (Hardwick was great, and we thought he must have been to have been willing to follow Zach) we went over to one of the tents to see Belle & Sebastian, and between one of the songs Jon came out again, and threw gummy bears again at the lead singer. I like to think that he just spent that whole night running around the farm, throwing gummy bears at people.
(Actually, according to social media, later that weekend he and Zach drove to Chattanooga and give a waitress a $100 tip and an all-access Roo wristband.)Â
And that is the story of how I was in the same room as Jon Hamm. Thank you for asking, and a HUGE THANK YOU for your comment! I’m so glad you’re enjoying!
