“Is it as bad as it looks?”
Whilethey’re thankful for her help Yves keeps their distance.
Withunsteady steps they stand, turning to face her as she speaks. “It is as bad asit looks?” Zin’s voice seems to crackle in the murky atmosphere. Tired andweary, gravel crunches under Yves boots. If the ground were to crumble beneaththeir feet they’d likely fall.
The silencebetween the two creates an unwelcome ambiance.
“This mightbe worse.” They say, though they seem to be talking to themselves.
It’s beenworse they suppose. Zin gives them a sharp look that seems to cut the tenseair. Her look relaxes a moment when she realized Yves likely has no clue what’sgoing on either.
“And when hewakes up?” She asks, expression striking and unwavering as she gazed at Rohan’scollapsed form. Almost as if she was searching for something. Perhaps they havemet before.
Yves speaksup. “I don’t know.”
It’s likely he could kill me.
Truthfullythey’re at a loss. A simple infiltration mission hindered as Rohan’s wholedemeanor changed in a flash. They really should have known something was wrongwhen their ears were struck with radio silence.
And theyhaven’t seen that since…
Yvesdismisses the thought, bringing their focus back to the present.
Home.Â
