These pictures were taken a couple of weeks before Oliver’s 1st birthday up at Fern Canyon and Golds Bluff Beach. My little gremlin is going to be turning 3 this October; he’s literally almost “karate classes” big. When I look at these sweet pictures I remember how perfect that hike was. Here’s where I’m at...I’m not looking forward to Oliver’s youth in this hotbox. Back in Humboldt we had an incredible environment to run around in. Here my son can’t safely play outside for too long, the air quality is expected to be horrendous in the dry season, and the irony is that the cost of living is actually higher when you factor in PG&E. Of course we have the mountains, we have Yosemite, but we don’t have the lush cool environment that you find in Cali’s Northern Border. I know we moved down so my partner could partner with his father’s business and we wanted to be closer to family. If I could, I’d move everyone up to Humboldt. The valley is my community, I love my community. It might be this heat really getting to me, but this girl is gasping like Mr. Fish. So here’s my boo-hoo it’s hot piece. I can’t get naked enough here y’all. I can’t help but feel a little bit pissy come peak hours. It’s nasty, and guess what, the people here can get even nastier. The term “hot-head” came from the valley. I don’t know how I ever survived, oh yeah, I was faded beyond belief literally all the time before I moved to Humboldt. A lots changed since I’ve been in the valley, but hey the weather hasn’t isn’t that nostalgic?
