Thinking about the effects of globalization requires having an open mind. It also requires one being able to role play. For an American, they may have to look through the lens of another country’s citizens to draw an honest opinion. Better yet, a study abroad trip to a foreign country may be the perfect aide in helping an American draw honest stereotypes of Americans. Common stereotypes of Americans include “Americans are lazy, greedy, take things for granted, have excess to the point of arrogance, only money matters to an American, Americans have a lot of money”. These types of stereotypes may prove to be a disadvantage when visiting other countries.
