They’ve got him in a pinch, tiny space between couple of buildings. He’d been running from the bear that couldn’t stuff itself to the back alley but now he’s met with a bunch of those reindeer. If he shoots now they might all gang up on him. The temperature, however. It’s lowering, he can see his breath a little too clearly.

An appearance of another person is quite a lucky break, even more that he happens up close. Ogata doesn’t waste time, he gives them a push towards the reindeer flock. 

And then takes a run.
