I had my first kiss when I was 17 and we quickly broke up afterwards. It was my only kiss and I haven't dated much since then. 2 years later and I feel incredible guilt about it. Even though it was just a kiss it's almost paralyzed me from dating anyone else because I feel dirty and disgusting for kissing someone that I most likely won't marry. I know it's not sex or even close to it but I feel so bad, how can I get rid of all the shame I feel? I want to date but I fear going through this again.
Hey!
Draw a standard to every romance that could happen, a standard that you won’t kiss until you know deeply is right. Since you do desire not to kiss until its the person you are going to marry. Tell the person you want/are dating at the right time that you do have this standard. They should help you maintain it since its so important to you, just like purity is to you.Â
You’re feeling shame since you did place a kiss in the same esteem and honor as maintaining your purity, which is not wrong. What keeps you honoring Christ, what keeps your body pure is what is right. The shame is a lie that you’ve done an unforgivable deed. This is a lie. Anything is forgivable, even kissing when one regrets it later down the road.Â
There’s no shame in Christ, you’re free from it. Only if you receive that freedom!  ♥ ♥ ♥
