𝙏𝙃𝙀𝙎𝙀 𝘼𝙍𝙀 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙊𝙉𝙇𝙔 𝙉𝙄𝙂𝙃𝙏𝙎 𝙃𝙀 𝘾𝙊𝙈𝙀𝙎 𝙄𝙉𝙏𝙊 𝙏𝙊𝙒𝙉. it's late, a friday night. the only time this tiny town comes to life. the tiny main street is lit, couples and families walking the streets. on nights like this he could walk around mostly unnoticed by the townspeople. everyone here knows everyone. and a dark haired tall man would certainly catch eyes. but not tonight. he scurries' across the street to a convenience store.

too busy worrying about going unnoticed he himself doesn't see the woman he crashes into. falling back onto his bottom felix shakes his dizziness off in a cartoon like fashion. their eyes meet and felix simply stares with a wide eyed look. oops. ❛ ah fuck. sorry. ❜

the opulence of the room was almost suffocating, with crystal chandeliers hung from the vaulted ceiling like glittering stalactites, their light refracting into a million tiny rainbows that jazzed across the polished marble floor. inhaling was excruciating on its own: the air had mingling scents of expensive perfumes, fine cigars, and the faint, almost imperceptible hint of wealth ⸻ a scent ryker had come to recognize with a mixture of disdain and resignation. he stood near the edge of the grand ballroom, his muscular frame encased in a sleek, form-fitting suit that clung to him like a second skin. the suit was tailored to perfection, highlighting the contours of his biceps, the sinewy strength of his shoulders, and the lean lines of his torso. the fabric stretched just enough to hint at the power beneath without sacrificing the elegance demanded by such an elite gathering.

"YOU LOOK LOST, sweetheart, " he comes to stand next to the woman. she'd been wandering the gift shop for awhile, & he's all but given up hope she's going to buy anything. hell, he doesn't even remember seeing her on the tour he just gave.

& trust, he'd remember that face paired with that body.

" lose your grou or somethin'? " he asks, leaning on eight ball that serves as the handle of his cane.

vex is tired. since being separated from vax a few nights ago, she'd found herself completely restless, unable to stop tossing and turning whenever she laid down to rest. she's by a creek, washing her hands and trying to calm her nerves, resisting the urge to jump up at every little sound. her half-asleep mind can barely process the sounds of the forest around her. with slow blinking eyes, she takes in the sight of the lake just as she finishes, leaning back on her feet.
