@fischotterkunst did you do this after watching The Lion the witch and the wardrobe?? Because when I first watched it in theaters and I saw Edmund eating Turkish delight, I hella wanted to taste it. I later convinced my mom to get me some, tasted it and it was freaking disgusting. it wasn't the same exact thing as a movie but I still do not want to try Turkish delight ever again.

i grew up reading the books, so i already had wanted to try it, but then when the movie came out and that Turkish Delight was lookin like THIS:

i was convinced that it was. whatever is the food equivalent of Ambrosia. it had to taste amazing. and then we got some (admittedly, it was not from a confectionery or any place that would have it fresh - it came from some chain supermarket like walmart or something) and yeah it was. Not Good. (although tbh my tastes have developed since then so maybe i would enjoy it now? but definitely not the food of the gods i thought it was gonna be.)

not that anyone asked but equally disappointing was baklava:

when i was a little kid i thought it was like a dorito but like...a dorito good enough that you’d spend one of your three magic genie wishes on a whole mountain of it?? that has to be good, right?? but again, we got some from wal-mart and uh.

I have never watched or read Pride and Prejudice in any way, nor do I watch or read any costume/period dramas, so there’s no intentional connection to anything. My closest experiences with regency era stuff and such come from Hark!  A Vagrant comics :D

I think addressing nobility by their houses is not a thing irl, as there are written and spoken formalities addressing the person’s status only (at leas in UK). But, it is fun for the regency au, especially when I want to underline just how important Prime family is and why everyone is like “omgomgomgomgomg with them”.

I read only non-fiction and veryveryvery rarely some fanfics because I can’t see anything in my head while I read fiction and then I forget immediately what I read. Audio books work like miracle but it’s hard to concentrate to just listening audio books.
